SAM and UK GDPR

The personal information collected on this app will be processed by Mind Garden Technology (the data controller) in accordance with the provisions of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) as applied, enacted, and amended in UK law.

We will be collecting the following information from users of the app:

  1. User logins (pseudonyms) and passwords (encrypted)
  2. Device identifiers (not unique but mobile type/operating system used)
  3. User wellbeing profiles over time (not shared)
  4. User comments and ratings of self-help techniques (shared)
  5. User-contributed social posts and replies (shared)
  6. E-mail addresses for the purpose of managing passwords (encrypted and hashed)

We will hold your data securely and not make it available to any third party unless permitted or required to do so by law. The requested information will be used as follows:

  • To enable storage of your profile record for you to access as required;
  • To enable storage of social cloud comments and ratings for users to access as required;
  • To help us develop and update the app in response to how people use it. This may include academic publication using anonymised / aggregated user activity data to help improve the research base around digital mental health support.

The information will be stored on a secure database hosted by a third party Internet Service Provider (Digital Ocean LTD) in the UK.

By using this app I consent to my personal data being processed as described above. Should I decide to use the forums within the app I do so on the understanding that my personal information I choose to submit will be shared with other forum users.

Your rights and choices

In respect of your personal data held by us, you have the following qualified rights to:

  • access it
  • receive it in a structured machine readable format and data portability
  • rectify it if it is not accurate or complete
  • erase it
  • restrict its processing
  • withdrawing any consent provided or otherwise object to its processing
  • complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
